Saturday morning I woke up feeling tired, I always hate it when I can’t sleep in my own bed. After mulling around the camp we got prepped for heading out on our respective trips. I opted to take the “easy” trail, and Justin took the harder trail. I had a pretty easy time with the easy trail, we got back to the camp site about noon, and I was still feeling that I wanted to go out.

General Jeep Amusement (Part I)
Friday, June 16th, 2006
I was going to bail on going to the JonFund Field Trip after getting my tires earlier on Thursday and the white knuckled drive back home. Justin convinced me to try to fix the issues I had (with his help) so I could go. My major issue was that my wheel bearings have been in questionable shape for quite a while, and the larger tires and increases lift made it a scary ride, especially combined with the lack of sway bars.
Long Arms
Monday, June 12th, 2006
I am in the midst of installing my Long Arm Kit for the Cherokee. I’m ambitiously trying to finish the install up so that I can drive down to Milford and pick up my new 34 inch offroad tires in time to go on the JonFund FieldTrip this weekend.
Mind in the Gutter
Sunday, April 23rd, 2006
Justin and I (and a large group from JonFund drove up to Mass for the April off roading trip near Yankee Candle.
Although the weather was decent earlier in the day (not nice like a few days before when it was in the 70’s though), it started raining shortly before lunch, and continued through the day. Even with the poor weather we all had fun (I believe).
Offroading, and spending money like water
Sunday, October 23rd, 2005
It was crappy weather on Saturday. Cold and rainy, but that didn’t stop Justin and I heading out to meet the guys at Jon Fund for some Octoberfest offroading. I finally got the Cherokee out on the trail again, and did some pretty great four wheeling (I’ll have pictures soon). Ben came with us, and drove Justin’s Jeep a bit, I think fun was had by all (considering the weather, etc.)
I got home from Octoberfest around 4, and after a quick shower Cara and I went out to buy furniture at Basset. After a quick credit check, we spent almost 5 grand on stuff for the new house. I can’t say I’m excited about spending so much money (or more to the point, going into debt for so much money), but I am psyched to get some things for the house. Maybe it’s just a little sobering, because I know that this is just the start of things.
Alive and kicking…
Monday, July 11th, 2005
I’m alive and kicking, but just overloaded with life. A short update:
* Went to a party on the Cape two weekends ago to celebrate the end of Cara’s internship.
* Went to Cara’s fathers wedding the day after the party
* Moved a bunch of stuff into my apartment from Cara’s old place (including two cats) the day after that
* Moved a ferret and additional things on the day after that (the Fourth of July).
* Worked a lot.
* Spent the last Saturday moving the remainder of Cara’s things from her old place.
* Spent the rest of Saturday and all of Sunday cleaning, repositioning and throwing out the things in my place.
Of course mixed in with all of this has been general wedding planning which has included sending lots of money to lots of people, calling up other people and generally just trying to keep sane.
I drove my Jeep a couple times in the last week, but I seem to be getting 0 oil pressure which is a little scary. I’m hoping it’s either the oil filter is clogged up something serious (It’s been 4000 miles and 7 months since the last oil change) or the sensor is bad. Thankfully I don’t have to drive it on a daily basis.
The big day is impending, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I don’t make another blog entry until we get back from our honeymoon.
End of the Weekend
Sunday, April 17th, 2005
I spent today doing a couple more things on the Jeep, then getting it washed. My Skidrow skid plates were missing an important part so I’ll have to finish them up later.
I also spent time this morning working further on the DrieStone.net site (working on the format to something a bit more custom). The last thing I have to do is format the non-blog pages to match.
Jeep Repairs
Saturday, April 16th, 2005
Spent a number of hours today working on the Jeep. It took me a good 45 minutes to clean out the interior (and that’s not quite complete, but at least it’s not junky now). I then went to work on fixing a few outstanding issues.
I realized I did more damage than I thought when I tried to drive into the Travelers parking garage in December. Not only did I twist the floor of the roof rack, but I put a good sized dent/scratch in the roof of the Jeep as well as bent the roof rack out of square. I was finally able to bend the rack back into some semblance of square. I also spent some time putting my fender flare back on the rear.
So it’s back to looking whole visually, but there’s still a lot to do. Tomorrow I’ll be putting my armor under the engine and transfer case (which I’ve had for well over a year now). I may also try to finish wiring up the overhead console on the inside.
Jeep not go boom
Sunday, June 20th, 2004
Drove out to Justin’s to sort out the Jeep issues on Saturday. Everything went fairly well (and it ended up my issues were my own errors.)We were able to not only get my Jeep running correctly, but Justin noticed issues with his Jeep and we/he was able to fix those as well.Overall pretty successful, and I can finally knock one of the major “upgrades” off my Jeep to-do list.
Jeep go boom
Monday, June 14th, 2004
So I drove to Manchester to finally install the slip yoke eliminator that I’ve had for a very long time now. Basically this involves disassembly of the transfer case (the device that routes drive power to the front and rear tires on a 4 wheel drive vehicle,) swapping out some components and reinstalling everything. Overall it was about a 5-6 hour project. Of course the last step of the project is to install a new rear drive shaft, which I found out was not correct for my vehicle. Justin and I decided it was probably better if I just put the Jeep in 4 wheel drive mode, and drive home using the front wheels (without a rear drive shaft.) No biggie, I’d get the replacement bits and be good to go.Afterwards Brian, John, Sarah, Justin, Kristin and I were going to dinner. I pulled off the exit with Brian behind me and noticed a thin oil mist on the back window and a lot of smoke in front of me (which initially I thought was the car in front of me.) I pulled the Jeep off the side of the road and took a look under it. Something happened and all of my new transmission fluid that was supposed to be in my transfer case was now all over my exhaust (and rear axle, and fuel tank, and….)Sometimes the shit hits the fan (or the fluid hits the exhaust in this case.) So I got the Jeep towed back to Justin’s and borrowed his Blazer to get home (damn hour drive home, good thing Justin has so many vehicles.)So next weekend, it’s back to Justin’s to figure out what went wrong.
